BACKROUND

OAV

Ryoko is a synthetic being created by Washuu. Washu took one of her eggs and a joined it with a being know as "Massu". This created Ryoko. So, in essence, Washuu is Ryoko's mother.

Washuu's assistant, Kagato, consumed by his own self-greed, imprisoned Washuu and took control of a young Ryoko. Ryoko grew up without her mother's love (feel sad people). So, Ryoko, because she was being controled by Kagato, became ruthless and evil. She became a space-pirate and went on a rampage. It wasn't until she terrorized Jurai that someone challanged her. That someone was prince Yosho.

Yosho persued Ryoko all the way to the Earth, and eventually defeated her in combat on the Earth. He took the three (or maybe four?) gems from Ryoko and placed them in his sword, the Tenchi-ken. He then imprisoned Ryoko in a cave and locked it up using the sword. It has been like that for 700 years, until....

A young boy named Tenchi foolishly opened the bond that sealed Ryoko. Ryoko, being set free, rejuvinated from her mumified state, and became her lovely self again. Wanting to exact revenge on Tenchi, Ryoko suprised him when he had fallen asleep at his school. In the insinuating fight, she blew up half the school trying to kill Tenchi. In the end, the Tenchi-ken Tenchi carried in his bag saved him from Ryoko by cutting her hand off ( and therefore destroying the fake-gem on her hand ).

But, Ryoko suprised Tenchi again, this time by showing up in his own bed. She begged him to give her the gems back because a "grave" evil was approaching, and she needed to contact Ryo-Ohki, her ship (and yes, also that little funny cabbit-thing). Little did Ryoko or Tenchi know, this was the start of a big adventure...

Universe

Ryoko is a class A space pirate who is wanted by the galaxy police. Ryoko is apparently in the middle of a hangover when she is chased down to earth by galaxty police patrol ship (which happened to be Mihoshi), she crash lands in the mountains of Okayama. Tenchi is on his way to school when the ships crash land and he finds Ryoko unconsciouse. He revives her and she takes a look at him for the first time (can you say love at first sight?).

Anyway, she decides to have a little fun and calls herself a "princess" and that the galaxy police officer is actually a "space pirate" : ) Tenchi believes her and brings her home to take care of her. This is the start of the story...

Shin Tenchi (In Tokyo)

Ryoko is yet again a class A space pirate being yet again persued. But this time, it's by the Galaxy Police (more precisely Kiyone and Mihoshi) and the princess of Jurai (Ayeka UHGGG!!!). BUT!!!! this time, Ryoko has an allie, WASHUU. Yes, the greatest scientific genius in the universe. In the insinuating battle, Ryoko and Washuu run out of fuel while being persued by Kiyone, Mihoshi and Ayeka. Washuu senses a strong power coming from the earth and decides to land there to refuel. They are shot down to the Earth.

Ryoko and Washuu are on the run from Ayeka and company down on the earth, but alas! they are caught. Ryoko decides to fight, but when Ayeka cheats (like she always does), Ryoko decides to use the Jurai power crystal (which she stole from the Jurai family, which is why she's being chases). She transforms into a hideouse beast and would have killed everyone, had Tenchi not arrived. The crystals on Tenchi's neck transformed into a sword, which was the power source Washuu had sensed from space. Using the sword, he stopped Ryoko, by seriously injuring her.

In the aftermath of the battle, Tenchi took care of a badly wounded and unconsciouse Ryoko. He tells her stories and talks to her while she sleeps, even though she can hear everything. Ryoko eventually falls in love with Tenchi, and when she awakens, she takes one of the crystals from Tenchi's necklace to 1) have something to cherish and 2) make sure Tenchi never uses the sword against her again. The story begins.
